Dress Your Way To A Slimmer You

In many cases women have to face a huge challenge finding clothing or dresses that aren’t just fashionable, but also flatter their shape! It is an up hill task no less when what most boutiques only carries fashions that could only fits those with the shape of a mannequin while your body is still recovering from the chocolate overload from Easter! It can be disheartening sometimes but with a little creativity, any woman can look slim and slender with the help of a great dress and fabulously flattering Spanx shapewear.

Of course we love to follow the current fashion or trend but it might not suit your body type. What is more important is, dress according to your body shape and feel comfortable.

    Fabric

If you have all those love handles around your waist, it is always best to avoid any Lycra type of fabric that accentuates your problem areas, and also never ever wear thick and hard fabrics that ‘jut’ out and make you look wider.

    Cutting

If you’re looking for dresses, find those with Princess or Empire cut. These cuts hide all problem areas. For skirts, try to select those with A-line cut with length below your knee so you will look slimmer and taller too. Never wear pom-pom, flare or pleated skirts as these three cuttings will make you look bigger. And always keep in mind, never wear loose fitting or baggy clothes as it will make you look not only bigger but sloppy too.

    Colours and Patterns

One of the common problems is selecting appropriate colours. It is advisable to wear dark shades so you could hide all problem areas especially the tummy and thigh area. Choose a lighter colour for your top and darker colour for your bottom as this will help detract the eyes up towards your face rather than resting on your hip or bottom. Choose less prints and go for more subtle patterns like vertical lines.

    Neckline

Finding clothes with the right type of neckline is also very crucial, especially those with a rounded face. V-neck or plugging neckline are better choices as they give your face more emphasis. Try avoiding high neck as they make you look shorter and wide collars, as these will make you appear larger.

    Underwear

So you’ve found the perfect dress, but still not happy with your shape? Fake it! Love by stars and civillians alike, Spanx underwear is essential for women of all sizes. Even slim celebs like Gywenth Platrow have hailed the brand as essential women’s underwear. Available in camis, shorts, full slips and even tights, Spanx should be your starting point. Get yourself a professionally fitted bra while you’re instore trying on your Spanx and you’re good to go!
